Ove Kindvall- The Statue

Forward, comrades, forward!

Peter Hunt was the chairman of IFK Norrköping for twelve years and helped lead the club from struggling at the bottom of Superettan to winning the Swedish Championship in 2015. His dedication and contribution laid the foundation for establishing the club at the top of Swedish football.

The statue, which is a gift from Peter Hunt (chairman of IFK Norrköping from 2009-2021) and his family to the club and its supporters, was unveiled on Monday, October 21, before the Allsvenskan home match against Brommapojkarna.

Peter Hunt’s commitment, drive, and passion for the blue star were unwavering. As a supporter, entrepreneur, and chairman, he made a lasting impact. He took over a club in crisis in 2009 and played a crucial and significant role in its journey to the top of Swedish football during his twelve years (2009-2021) as chairman.

Peter Hunt is one of the most important figures in the club’s modern history.

With the statue, a gift to IFK Norrköping and its supporters from Peter Hunt and his family, it stands as his legacy to his beloved club.

It all began at an annual meeting in 2021 when member Magnus Elving’s proposal for a statue of Ove Kindvall was raised and approved.

“Ove is one of the most important figures in IFK’s history,” Hunt said at the time.

Today, Ove is in place.

Peter Hunt first encountered IFK Norrköping as a young boy, standing by the fence at Idrottsparken when he was 9 years old, captivated by the atmosphere and the star power when his IFK Norrköping faced Benfica.

That was the start of a lifelong love and commitment.

Back then, no one could have predicted the significance he would have for the club when he became chairman in 2009, leading IFK Norrköping on a great journey from battling at the bottom of Superettan to winning the Swedish Championship, playing in Europe, and making multi-million sales.

Peter Hunt passed away after a short illness on July 22, 2024, at the age of 71.
